Default Black trim

I am looking for thoughts on whether or not to paint my fender flares bumper and grill.

I have a white 1997 ranger xlt extended cab and wanted to know if it would look bad if I blacked out the fender flares, bumpers, and the grill. also wondering what wheels I could find for cheap that would look good with this combination because I think the stock wheels are ugly ass butt.
Thanks!
-Joe

Lol. This post is just funny to me. Fender flares used to always be black or grey plastic and, when they started getting painted, everyone thought they looked awesome. And a black grill...? Well, that was a dead give away that someone bought the cheapest trim level they could find.

My fender flare are grey but show signs of wear around the edgesso i wanted to paint them black to make it look better and the grill is all faded ugly grey so I thought it would look nicer if I painted it black

Lol, add to that list of things found on the cheapest trim level known to mankind, black wheels, usually with something shiny in the center (aka, "poverty 'caps or "dogdish") and vinyl seats (today it's called, leather and it's about as thin as the old vinyl and it'll fry your legs, ass and your back on a hot, sunny day just like the old vinyl.......that people hated for that reason).

Don't worry about these guys. Have you thought about Plasti Dip? Try one and see if you like it. If not you can just peel it off. In the long run it's your truck and you're the one that need to be happy.

Painted my grill black. Looks better than old, faded, no more chrome grey that was.

I did my grille over in black. Now I'm going billet (still black). I also hate the faded gray plastic and have done all of mine over in black. Bumper impact strips, door trim, rear bumper cover. I like it. I'm going to remove my door trim soon I think. I like plasti dip because if you hate it you can take it off. If you do a bad job you can take it off. If you like it, leave it until it starts to peel then paint it when it comes off. Good luck.

Please don't think I'm criticizing your idea. It was more about how tastes have changed regarding styling on vehicles than any kind of jab at what you want to do.

I would say do it all except the grille. Grille center black looks good but I dislike the full black grille. I'd rather use a can of touchup and fix it up.

Nobody is criticizing your ideas, don't be like other guys and get all butt hurt over nothing. It's your truck, do what makes you happy look at pics of others that did what you're thinking about, decide, then do it. If you really want to do it like a pro, don't use Autozone or WalMart rattlecans, go to an autobody supply house, get the good stuff and apply with a gun.
