Default Another light bar question, are they worth it?

I have a 99 Ranger XLT extended cab and live in the mountains of western North Carolina and drive a lot at night. I would like to add some additional light for those dark nights.

I was looking at a 12 inch light to go into the opening between the chrome bumper and the plastic valance where the front license plate mount is.

My big question will this actually give me the added light I want or will it end up being glitter? Those of you who have these smaller bars do they actually help?

Thanks for the help.

Yes they help out alot, I can probably dig up a picture of what a 20" will do mounted to the bumper

A 20 fits really nice down there. I thought of doing it myself, but I rarely drive at night and when I do it's 95% city so there's really no point for me. Therefore I don't know what the result would be.

I was wondering the same thing, I have also been trying to find a "how to" thread on how people are mounting the light bars. All I have found is people drilling holes in the bumper and I really don't want to drill holes.

Lightbars definitely are worth it. This is a 20" single row I have on my truck. Not as bright as the double row I had on my older Ranger. But is still bright enough drive at night without my headlights on. You just have to get creative if you don't want to drill into the bumper.
