Steering knuckle. It's good that your on top of it. Alignment is part of the repair. How bad is it?

Check for play. A torn boot makes it vulnerable. The boot doesn't look torn in the picture, it looks like buildup is flaking off of the threaded part. Also obscured by the buildup is the grease fitting.

Clean it up with whatever degreaser you have handy and get a better look. Maybe it could use some grease.

its a tie rod end, not a steering knuckle.

dont fuck with it unless you know how to replace it, if you dont, do some reading, and replace it yourself, then go get an allignment.

and if its the stock TRE like i think it is, its non greaseable. just clean it up, and if theres any play in it, i suggest you replace it, you can order quality replacements at rockauto.com . moog makes great products, and the TRE's they make are greaseable.

yes if the tie rod end is badly worn, jack it up and support it properly, shake the wheel side to side and look for any wiggle. Not a hard fix with a good fork or a BFH, and strong arms. IMHO its best to replace both, Peace of mind and only need to align it once.

When you put your tyrod back in make sure to measure and mark the new one. Then get the alignment.
