Default Need a lower step for my lifted truck

My Ranger has a 4" suspension lift with a 3" body lift, my truck is a super cab that came with step rails already from the factory. Since I did the body lift, my kids and the wife have a hard time getting in my truck. I'm not so much worried about the wife though LOL! Any suggestions what I can do with the factory steps to drop them? Can any mods be done to them? Anything good aftermarket that will fit a supercab?

Do you have any friends that know metal work? Just fab up some brackets that drop the steps a couple of inches. Or you could get those steps that lower when the door is opened.

My brother is a welder but I'm afraid of it's cut and dropped the welds may not hold due to the angle of the brackets coming out from under the truck.

Draw up a design and post pics here. I am sure some members are knowledgeable enough with metal to be able to tell if it would hold.
