Default Brackets for Step Rails

I dug out my step-rails for the truck after noticing the rockers had some good scratches from goofing off in the gravel pits. I got one side on with minimal difficulty and then I hit a little snag.

I am pretty sure I have all of the mounting hardware, however, I think I am missing part of the bracket.

On one side, at the front, the bolts were fastened and protruding through a plate and I just had to slip the nut on the front bolt, line up the back and tighten it up.

On the passenger side, there was two holes, where it appeared the bolts belonged, but no way was there enough room to get a wrench or socket on the back of the nut to hold while I got it on. I don't believe that is how they intended them to be installed.

Is it possible someone could show me their passenger side bracket with and if possible, without the steprails on?

I hope this made sense.

Edit: If it didn't, heres pictures...

As you can see in the illustration/ It appears as if it has 2 bolts that are then on a flat piece of metal.

need another edit -- both pictures look the same...

edit: ...and, I see that Myke has been here in the interim. ;-) It's odd that you should post this question, as mine (used) just arrived via UPS, and the contents were scrambled about the box. ...fortunately, it looks like all the bolts are there... just missing an end-cap on the rear passenger side step-bar. thanks for the diagram, Myke -- that answers *my* question that I logged on to ask!! now, question is whether I can get them installed with the remaining daylight we have here....

Myke -- that piece fits in the footwell under the carpet. it's a U-shaped piece of metal with two threaded studs that protrude through the bottom of the cab to attach the other half of the bracket to, underneath.

Correct However. When i bought mine from a guy he took them off his truck and gave them to me. He did not have that just 2 bolts. He had never removed them when he bought his truck brand new in 05

If you need the end cap I found a sweet site with stuff pretty cheap they are 20 bucks

Would you have a schematic for the truck frame that the rail mounts connect to. There has to be U bracket missing for the two bolts from the rail mount.

Thanks again.

Must be nice!

Atleast I got the important side on for now. Did your rails come with their own hardware? What was the front setup?

my step bars are slightly different than the ones pictured, above -- but the mounting brackets are the same.

I can take photos of my installation tomorrow after work, if it's not raining -- it's too dark out to get one, now. basically, that weird U-bracket fishes up through the larger of those three holes, and one of the studs protrudes through the rear-most of the two smaller holes, and the other stud protrudes through the larger hole that you fished the bracket up through.

FWIW: all that I've read here and elsewhere about those U-brackets says they "drop in" a slot from inside the passenger compartment. this was not the case on my truck; i had to fish them through as described above...

...and now, it's off to the shower!!!
