Default Lifting Points For A High Lift Jack

Ok so I was doing a bit of offroading last weekend in my ranger and I ran into a problem with the wheel coming off (no clue how it happened but it happened). So I went to get the factory Emergency jack to lift my truck but it wouldn't even reach the frame because not only is my truck lifted it has 33 on it. But to jump to my question I bought a High Lift today and was wondering if there are really any good spots to use it on or could I fabricate some lift points that connect to the frame. Because it I jack on the sheet metal it just dents the medal and its unsafe. Hope this makes since and I appreciate the help.

I don't have the answer , but it's a real good question.

You have to fab stuff like bumpers, rock sliders etc.

Why not use factory-indicated jack points? As you said, with the taller tires and lift kit, the
mount points have risen, but wouldn't the basic geometry remains the same - just higher.

Would you happen to know any place that might have some kind of tutorial to make rock slides. I can't imagine it would be to hard but I would just like something to go off of. I'm actually going to try and draw something up in a drafting program called auto desk inventor that might help me fabricate something. By the way Inventor is basically CAD. I'll post what I come up with. The drawing won't be to scale until I get the time to measure every thing.

Thanks for the clarification. I've owned 'high lift' hydraulic jacks in the past.

lol @ this thread.

Hi-Lift Jack = Brand name synonymous with what I posted.
"High Lift" Hydraulic Jack (that member 'nkfro' talks about) = Taller floor jack (or similar).

Based on what the OP was talking about - he has a "Hi-Lift" jack (used offload for lifting, pushing, pulling, winching, and clamping)

I believe member 'nkfro" is simply talking about a tall floor jack (or similar) - not a hi-lift setup.

Doesn't help if your wheel comes off, but Hi-Lift sells a "wheel lift" attachment that bolts onto the jack shoe and has two hooks to grab and lift your truck by the wheel spokes. So far I've used it to lift two different F-150s and it worked great. I've also lifted my truck from the hitch with a Hi-Lift, altho it's less than ideal.
