Default could you tell me what is this?

i put an ac system on my truck that does not have one and start installing the parts that i got from the donor truck on the junkyard, I connected everything but there is this hose I dont know where it connects, could you guys tell me what is this and where it connects,

its coming from the blower housing

There is supposed to be a vacum canister on top of the ac. plenium that the vacum hose hooks to.

could you be more specific? top of ac meaning top of that blower housing?

i pulled this unit from a ford ranger 1995 xl i did not check the engine size or any info, my ranger is 1997 ford ranger xl 2wd 3.0 v6

Here is mine. It is attached to the heater hose going into the fire wall. It was on the left hose.

is it fine to let it hanging? i havent attached the hoses for the heater coz the truck that i pulled it from cut the hoses going to the heater core and i did not see that barrel type thing on it, what do you call it then?

That connects to the heater core valve. That is a vaccum tube that is connected to the HVAC panel. When you turn the panel to heat it opens that valve allowing antifreeze to flow through the heater core. When you go to cool, it closes the valve keeping hot antifreeze from flowing through the heater core.

I would recommend getting the valve and installing it as well.

I would recommend buying a new air drier or acumulator for the system. The one from the junk yard is probably ruined. Once they are exposed to air they will start to absorb the moiture from the air. If left exposed for a long period it will fill with moisture and be no good. You should not remove the new one from the packaging until it is ready to be installed.
