Re: removing grill 01 edge 4x4
U want the actual honeycomb part out of the surround or are you just trying to get it off the truck?
under the headlights there are little clips use a flat blade screwdriver and compress the clip and pull out.
Getting the actual honeycomb part out of the surround is hard and u need 2 flat blade screw divers. One on each side and kinda pull up one clip at a time

Did a search and found a older post with pictures

Remove grille bolts using 5.5mm socket, one each side.
Remove clips on bottom of front clip. Two under each light, two under center of clip. Gently but firmly pull on front of clip and they should let go, if not you can use a flat head screwdriver to press down on clips to aid in removal.
The front clips is now out, place grille on a blanket on the tailgate. Using a 10mm wrench remove the retaining nuts from the back of the oval emblem.
Now for the grille removal you'll need two small flathead screwdrivers.
Insert as shown and very gently pry and wiggle the clips and they will let go.
Start from the outsides and work your way in releasing clips as you go.
Two on each side.
Five along the bottom, center clip has tabs on both sides.
Here is two clips out.
Grille is now out.
Clean grille removing all debris on grille I used a scrubbrush and a bottle brush to clean using hot soapy water, rinse and clean with isopropyl, allow to dry.
Hang grille so that you can access all sides, using very light coats go at the grille from every angle you can to get into all crevices.
I wound up giving it 5 light coats to cover everything, I used Rustoleum for plastic it gave it a nice semigloss finish
Allow everything to set for 24 hours to cure and put back together.

I wish I could figure out how to get mine out of my 2000, there are 4 screws on top, and some sort of clips or holders on the bottom I cant figure the bottom out ...its different from the honeycomb style...

Stick a slotted screwdriver in there and the clip will pop out.

Re: removing grill 01 edge 4x4
I done mine this spring and I used a heat gun to warm the plastic around the clips, made it super easy to get apart and did'nt break any clips.

Re: removing grill 01 edge 4x4
Well since my bed/gate and now a few other peices on my truck is getting painted. I am gonna get my surround painted the same color of the truck. So I did a search on painting the grill and I found this thread. Man I do love this site. Since you people don't want another pic of the truck till it's painted I think I'll make you all wait till after our upstate meet which is November 12th. Keep you all in suspense. =)
