Default upgrade headlights

I have an 01 edge and I'd like to upgrade my headlights. I would like you guys to know that I am disabled, the reason I mention that is because when I modify my vehicle I like it to be something that is reliable. That being said I feel that HID headlights would impractical since I hear that they are sometimes unreliable. So my question is this,I need new housings so would I be better off with OEM or TYC housings and use LED 9007 bulbs? Or projector lights? I don't know much about projectors, do they use a standard bulb? If projector lights are the way to go is there somewhere I can buy them complete ready to install? I know people have done their own retrofits but again that is not something I want to mess with myself, that's why I ask what would be my best options? Any info or opinions appreciated

My vote would be lense restoration, the 3M kit works really well. With Sylvania ultra 9007's. If they are too far gone, OEM housings, I bought TYC fog lights for my 04 and they leaked after the first time it rained.

try led 9007 bulbs in the reflector you have first. you will have to readjust your headlight aim because your lumens will go from 1000 to 2000. if it works buy a replacement oem reflector. if you do not like the way it works you will have to buy a reflector designed to work with led bulbs. hids not recommended in a halogen reflector because of chance lens could melt.

My hids have been in oem housings for 3 years now and have no issues with melting any thing. Readjusted them and they aren't blinding. Ideally the best possible solution for light is projectors with quality hids. You'll get light like a brand new BMW.

Check your local laws. I have aftermarket housing with stock bulbs. I also use driving lights with my stock headlights for more visibility. In some areas there is restriction on the light output from the headlights.

Hey everyone. I've got an 02 Ranger with the Spyder Projector Beam headlights installed. The bulbs in the lights are Sylvania Silverstar Ultra. Love the beam pattern on the lights but they're just not as bright as I would like. I'm looking at putting LEDs (Supernova V.4s) in them, but I know you have to be careful of LEDs in halogen projectors to get the right beam pattern. The biggest variable is the dust cover on the back and the wiring that goes to the bulb. Anyone have suggestions other than just cutting into the dust cover?

Thanks in advance.

Lense restoration and new bulbs or RETROFIT!!!!!

I realize you may not have the ability to physically or mentally do it, but paying someone to do it is VERY costly......but the results are JAW DROPPING performance. These ancient ones I attached below were built in 2010 or there abouts....two generations old the newest D2S 5.0 literally shits on what I have....that runs circles around most brand new cars today in 2019. It is worth looking into. Frank McCloud on Facebook is one of the best Ranger retrofitter's right now.

Worth looking into.

In short, $200-250 in materials doing it yourself vs nearly a grand paying someone to do it for you. Once you do it, you will never look back! I was once a non-believer.....but then I experienced it in person by taking a chance. Now I never look back. Even my beater is retrofitted.
