Default Do you know what color this is?

1999 Ranger XLT
It has bunch of small scratches that i would like to cover up but don't know what color the car is. The door jamb sticker just says "BG". After some research i am inclined to believe that it is "Toreador Red Clearcoat Metallic"; however, i am not totally sure. Is it possible that this is custom?

I thought mine was that Toreador red but it turned out to be Electric Current Red. So yours looks like what mine used to look like 14 years ago, haha.

No clue what it could be. Go to a local Ford dealership that has a service department and they should be able to go through archives to see what the factory colors were that year. If they cant find it then its custom and you can get it tested by any advanced paint shop for the exact color code.

run the paint code you don't have a custom color from the looks of it, any body shop will be able to tell you, the under side of the hood is the same color right? then you have a factory color just like your paint code states

The dealership told me it was "Autumn Orange". I had been under the false impression that color codes had two letters and then a few numbers.

It appears to be a color they used on the mustang in 97:
Autumn Orange Mustang

it looks like the same color. But thanks for all the help, going to the dealer was a great idea. I needed door ajar switches anyway.

Are you sure? I searched Rangers from your year specifically and it came with the Burnt Amber Metallic. I highly doubt someone would repaint it a slightly different shade.

Redid my search, Bright Amber Metallic was what I came up with

Search Ford Ranger : Your dream car is waiting for you from AugustaAutos.com

I still can't find the "Autumn Orange" paint color. When you search for 97 Mustang colors and use the BG paint code it comes back with Bright Amber Metallic Clearcoat.

Even if the paint name is different, if the paint code is the same, it's the same color. Grabber Orange shares the same code as Valencia. There's name changes on practically every model even if it's the same color code.

+1
Don't use names, they can be inaccurate. Use paint code.
