Default Bed rust issues

I've got a nasty rust issue on the floor of my bed on the passengers side. Anyone else have an issue like this? If so what did you do to fix it? Any suggestions? And I think I got some pics to attach.

Easiest way would be to cut out the rust and weld in new metal or just find a rust free box and swap it. It's just a few bolts and wires

Right now I'm looking into just cutting it out and welding a new piece in. Is this a common problem? Mine started off minor but then got worse real fast. Of course it probably doesn't help matters since I leave near the ocean.

I didn't see the pics on my first post so I'll try again now. Last post didn't work either. Guess that's what I get for trying to do it from my phone. These should work though.

Mine has it too. It is because of the exhuast heat shield that ford put there. I am going to cut out that part and replace it with a clean piece from the junk yard this summer because the rest of my bed is in great shape.

If you go the panel route. LMC Truck sells the replacement panels.

It seems all Rangers roust out on the passenger side front first. I had to do a patch job myself on my .98. I also did a beef up job on the driver's side. Cleaned, primed, and undercoated the crap out of it. Heculined the bed the seal the inside too. While you are at it, you might wanna look at your wheels wells. I had some water seepage at the weld points on the top. I cleaned the crap out for them and undercoated those too. They were only just starting to rust on the inside of the bed, so that should have been good enough to fix the problem.

They do not sell the replacement panel for the front of the bed.

Not hard at all. It will be 6 torx bolts and then one wiring harness to unplug. Also the filler neck has to be unbolted. Just spray the bolts with wd40 in advance where they attach to the frame.

When I took the bed off my Ranger I used an engine hoist to lift it off.

Could've swore they did. Maybe it was JC Whitney I saw bed panels in then.

Nope. Not there either.

Get you a couple friends and you can lift it right off. If you have to do it by yourself then you can get in YouTube and watch some videos where people do different things with boards etc.
