Not hard at all. In fact, I got my bed off by myself. I DO NOT recommend it solo with no lifting device... Just take the tailgate off and one person on either side lifting it off is no problem at all, it's really not very heavy.

Thanks for posting that! I was going to try and find a peice at a junk yard but this should work better and be much easier.

Thanks for the help! This sounds like a good spring time project. Since I live near the ocean I"m going to look into some kind of undercoating for the bed. Any suggestions? What about for around the area above the exhaust to prevent it from getting bad again?

Must be in a way it's attached...

Because when I bought my truck a month ago, it had patch panels on the floor of the bed on the passenger side... so there must be some openings underneath it that area letting water/salt reach the bed, or, something is directly below that area that is trapping water.

I'd cut it out, weld in a new piece and bed-liner the shit out of it.

I used Master-Series primer & topcoat rust-preventive paint (sort of like Por15) under the bed, and also replaced the (rotted) heat shield that was originally pop-riveted to the bed's underside. I used long-handled paint brushes to reach into wheel wells. That was almost 3 yrs ago. No rust issues now. My photos http://imgur.com/a/CKVUo
