Default Painting Stainless bed bars

So i scored a cheap set of chrome or stainless bed bars. But I want them to be black.
My question is if I have them sand blasted then will they take paint and primer?
Also does anyone know of a durable paint that with not chip and resists rusting.
Thanks

This is a good question,i will be watching for responses because i often have asked the same question. My thoughts have always been if its chrome it has to stay chrome, but there must be some product out there that will work for you.

Well i figure even if chrom it is plated. so think a good sand blast should do it. My brother has shop at schol and they would like to take this on so it is great for me. They also have nice paint booth so just need to pay cost of paint..

Well turns out the high school needed a project so the kids sand blAsted my bar. So
far it seems like it is gonna work. The chrome came off nicely. After cleaning it they plan on doing the primer today. Will post pics soon.

X2!

A lot of the powder coating shops here do media blasting to remove anything already on there and powder coat is the best kind of paint you can get on it imo.
