Default Mounting roof basket to topper without roof rack

I am wondering if anyone has found a way to mount there roof basket to the top of their topper without using a roof rack system. I though I saw one a little while back but couldn't remember who's truck it was. I like how low profile it was. It would also be one less thing to locate and buy. What would be some pros/cons to having a roof rack with basket VS no roof rack and just the basket mounted to the topper?

I know smittybilt makes "feet" type mounting brackets for some of their baskets. The downside is they only work with the smittybilt ones.

You could run the load bars of a roof rack through the basket to keep it low. Thats what I've seen another member do

as long as the basket had a flat bottom and you didnt mind the chance of some rubbing I dont see why it wouldn't work with enough silicone
