HID Flickering
Hey, I just got my HID lights the other day. I notice that they are flickering slightly. I have a amp hooked up in my truck. I am wondering why are they doing this?
Could it be because the lights are knew and need time to get the gases flowing around good?
Do i need the HID wiring Harness? So i can hook my HID directly to my battery?

Re: HID Flickering
Flickering is a sign of a loose connection. Unless they are loose inside your headlight housing. As I stated in another post, the Relay you posted above is a safer way to connect your HID's (safer for your wiring) and it will increase the life of your bulbs.

I will check all the connections tomorrow. But i know my connections are good. Both of them flicker sometimes. It is not one, they both do it. So i was thinking it was a lack in power from the stock harness sense i am already pulling power for my amp.

Re: HID Flickering
Buy a relay kit off of Ebay. Will cost you at most $10 and it will stop all flickering.

Was going to do that! But i was trying to save some money because I did not wont to spend anymore...
If i get a relay kit, will my lights get brighter? Because if they are flickering then its not getting the full 12v.

Re: HID Flickering
HID's use less power than normal halogens. It has nothing to do with not getting enough power. If all you connections are tight then you might have and issue with regulating your power and I would suggest getting a relay.

ohh, but if iget the relay it will fix the problem?
I am just going to double check my connections..
But if both lights are flickering its most likely not my connections.

Re: HID Flickering
If you problem is due to the voltage/wattage running though you truck being inconsistent, the relay will fix your problem. As you stated before double check you connections. Also If you get a wild hair disconnect you amp and see it that fixes the flickering. If so you need to buy they relay.

I will check that out tomorrow sense it is dark out now! I might unplug my amp to see if that fixes the problem, just depends.
Also could it be because the bulbs are new still? I heard it takes like 13hrs for the bulb to get broken in and to get the gases flowing good.

Re: HID Flickering
I've never heard of that before. I have 3 kits and it never happened. It doesn't mean it cant happen. You could always let them burn for awhile. I leaning toward something else though.

Ohh. I think i should just go ahead and get that relay kit. To fix the flickering and to help keep the bulbs longer.

Re: HID Flickering
I just went ahead and brought the relay. I was reading that the relay is good to get because it helps the life of the bulbs. So I just went ahead and got it and hopefully that fixes the problem.

What the HECK you talking about!! LOl
You dont know anything about HID it seems like!
The reason it was flickering because it wasn't getting a constant current. So i got the wiring harness and that fixed my problem.
