On here, I'm not sure of any members. I know some guys have modded Cherokee snorkels to fit. It's not that hard of a thing to make really.

Re: Rangers with Snorkels?
unless you really need one, why have it?
certain area's of the world experience seasonal rains that flood area's where people live, so a snorkel is essential.

Re: Rangers with Snorkels?
"camodown" made one that raised his up. it doesnt go through the fender and up on the window like you say. his is practical and stays under the hood.
and i would think you wud need a electric fan you can turn off and on before fording water at those depths

A snorkel would only be the beginning. A lot of things under hood would need to be water tight before the snorkel would be of practical use. If you are just going for looks, have at it. If you are looking at functionality, prepare to spend a lot of money to enable to really use that snorkel.

Yup you have to waterproof all the electrical, fuel, and venting systems...

It's up high under the dash. Look for the big plug going into the top, center of the firewall in the engine bay.

Re: Rangers with Snorkels?
Yeah I know there's alot involved in a snorkel setup, making everything water tight.
I have two rangers, one is a 98 one is a 99. Both are ext cab 4x4 auto 3.0s.
The 99 is "currently" my daily driver other than my motorcycle. The 98 is being rebuilt, and will soon, hopefully be my daily driver. Then my nice 99 will be my project truck. Used for camping, mudding, etc. So I was just wanting to see snorkel setups to maybe so that way down the road.
I have yet to see any pics posted lol.

I was also looking into a snorkel did my ranger. In jersey we have the pine barrens and up north where I am we get various heavy flooding. I'm turning my truck into a mudder soon n wanted to begin the water sealing project. Also, I believe it doubles as a CAI

What do you mean? It would seem like moving the intake higher would help a lot after seeing how easy it is to hydro lock by just getting in the water too fast. I'm tired of cleaning mud and dirt it of my intake and two weeks ago almost hydro locked it with water pooling all the way up in the throttle body. Not good! Wouldn't a snorkel at least solve this problem? I would like to see camodown's idea!

EXACTLY, man!!
That's what I was getting at.
Its not about "submerging" the engine in water, its about protecting it from that rush of water getting into the intake and hydrolocking it.
There's a guy on her that just replaced his motor after hydrolocking it, he posted a video of him going into a water hole, ot wasn't that deep at all, but he went too fast and the wave of water hit his grille and into the intake, he was done.

Yeah!! Water from small puddles has gotten into my intake several times but the last time it happened was the worst! And they're so easy to hydro lock. My RPMS were going between 200-1200 and when I took the intake off there was a pool of water in the throttle body. Scary but after I cleaned it out well and changed the oil it runs like a champ again. But I'm done taking chances of a huge expense and time consuming repair. Tomorrow I'll finish my "snorkel" lol
