Thinking about doing a Herculiner
So I took out my bed mat this week to do the first detail job inside and out. I noticed that the paint in the bottom of my bed at the top is flaking off and is exposing bare metal. I'm debating on whether or not to put in a do-it-yourself bedliner i.e Herculiner. Does anyone have any experience with this product. Anything positive or negative would help also. Thanks.
I have done some research on it and noticed for best results that you should put 3-4 layers on.

Re: Thinking about doing a Herculiner
^^Definitely. Alot of the Jeep guys on pirate4x4 use the herculiner stuff with good results. Not as strong as line-x, but not as expensive either.

Re: Thinking about doing a Herculiner
Without your liner you can run LED strip lights under the bed rail for lighting.

Re: Thinking about doing a Herculiner
My question is how easy is it to install this liner over the bed rails and I notice the guy only did half of the tailgate by the pictures. I was wondering can you go 3 coats to make it alittle stronger than just the standard two coats.

Re: Thinking about doing a Herculiner
I have it on mine. Including the rails. Its good for light to moderate use. I have used the crap out of mine with engine hauling and such and its starting to show now.

Re: Thinking about doing a Herculiner
never had a problem with mine, and I hauled some rock and stuff every couple months, multiple house moves w/furniture, and daily detailing equipment and no signs of wear on it.... as I suggest to everyone doing any DIY roll on liner. Get yourself a palm sander with 80 grid paper, clean your bed with acetone or whatever is recommended, then instead of of using the crappy scuff pad that comes with the kit, sand your paint with the sander, clean it again with the chemical, sand 2nd time as you will see missed spots, clean again with the chemical and you're ready to go. I ended up having enough to do 3 light coats with the gallon kit.

Re: Thinking about doing a Herculiner
I am in the process of Hercuiling. My bed has a few good rust spots. I am using steel wool to clean it all up, and I was wondering if I should use a rust sealer spray, like XO rust? Would that effect the adhesion of the liner?

Re: Thinking about doing a Herculiner
My herculiner is doing great. I am one of the lowered guys, so needless to say my bed doesn't get much hardcore use. Herculiner definitely isn't the strongest out there, but it sure is worth the 70 or so dollars that the kit costs. All in all, I'm happy and I know that my bed is gonna stay protected and rust free.
