Default Gap Guards???

For those of you who have a body lift, and installed gap guards...

I want to know if the guards are practical in doing what the manufacturer states "cover the gaps", and if can they stand up to heavy mud accumulation?

Are they even worth it? 90% of body lifted trucks I see don't have em on. So I need opinions. Thanks for the input

I would not spend the money they want for them

Make your own.

Good call. I've got ton's of heavy duty rubber matting at my shop. Looks like it'd probably serve the same purpose as the step guard. We use it to place Outdoor DC power plants on. Thanks

You can also use it up front

Just pull your existing guards off and trace them but make it a little longer

Yep, thats what i did for the front on my truck. For the rear I used vinyl wall base molding. Worked great! A 4 inch by 5 foot section was only a dollar and change and the local hardware store.

My rear gap guards were made from a rubber bed pad.

It looks really good, the vinyl was cheap enough that i bought a can of under body spray paint and coated it and the wheel wells the same color to hide them.

They look a bit better in person, the camera flash makes the wheel well more visible

Nice! That looks clean.

What kind of hardware did you use to secure the rubber? I don't want to do this half ass.

Here's my problem. I'm missing some of that pretty plastic under my wheel wells that i would secure the gap guard to. It Turns out that cheap plastic ford puts in the wheel wells can't stand up to mud accumulation.

However I do have the plastic under the wheel wells for both front tires. Rear not so much.
