Default Painting billet grille

I wanna paint my billet grille black.... Its polished alluminum, and I just wanna know what I would have to do as far as preping it. And I was also wondering what kind of quality I would get out of a flat black rattle can. If the rattle can wont work to good im sure I can get to a spray gun at my buddys shop. Thanks for the help

Edit- So im going for the blacked out look incase you were wondering. But I want your all's opinion's aswell. You guys think i should stick with it the way it is? Or go black with the grille
? im getting black halo projector headlights so i think the grille will look good with them. And if i paint the grille black the chrome housing around it will be painted to match the color of my truck (silver) let me know what you all think

I painted one before with a rattle can

I cleaned it really good with paint prep wipes

I used adhesion promoter and then painted. I used a flat black

I say do it. I did mine flat black and couldn't be happier with my decision. And I've even got the color that goes worst with black, lol.

That does look pretty clean. Me and my buddy decided to wait till i get these headlights to make a decision. Its either gonna make or break the truck.

Engine enamel spray paint works well to make it glossy. if you didn't want it flat. It worked great for the wife's Murano.

I believe that for anything aluminum a special primer is needed. When I last painted my aluminum boat we used a vinyl primer for proper adhesion and then painted over that and it stayed on.
