Default noisy exhaust after changing catalytic converter

in november i wrecked my 01 truck, so for the past few months my father and i have been rebuilding the new one (98)..changing over EVERYTHING. it was a B2500 and i had put about $3000 and a lot of effort into it.

this weekend we replaced the cat because i was getting awful mileage and code P0420..
first drive after the change, no noise.
next time i started the car it made this farting noise which my dad wrote up to be the springs on the bolts connecting the cat to tailpipe.

except the car continued to make noises when i would accelerate. sometimes it sounded like the exhaust was dragging on the ground, sometimes different noises. and when i was stopped at a light, the whole car would vibrate.

i think that the hangers are holding the pipe on the frame and its chaffing. does anyone have any ideas as to where/how i should put the hangers to hold the exhaust pipe? (it is not any special exhaust system)
