I used the Herculiner after fixing some rust spots. Did it as a poor man's body work.

I had to dab it on with a brush as I had no luck with a small roller and I could get into the crevices better. Lost some of it off to wear, so I think I will do another coat of it this summer. Not bad for a $27 investment, as it made the truck look a lot better.

Proper preparation is definitely the key to a good result. I used that product because I had used it on the bed of my '87 back in the day and liked the result. Not saying it is the best choice, but I found it acceptable.

If you want black, I'd recommend herculiner. Like others have said, it is gritty (rough). But IMO its pretty darn easy to clean, just don't try using a rag.
I personally, would want an aerosol Bedliner product mainly because its harder to get the even layout a roll on product would have.

Yep same here. the passenger side ex cab was full of small holes, used bondo, and metal tape and went over it with bed liner, good as new...


my last ranger i cut off the cancer, there is not enough bed liner in the world to cover its problems. RIP poor little ranger

I actually used Herculiner to cover the JUNK product Dupli-Color calls Bed Armor on the inside of my bed. OMG spotty gabage crap...I'm happy I only was out $30 and thought what the hell. Herculiner went on WAY better and nicer. It was actually fully textured...not black paint with some rubber particles spread about.

I do realize we're talking exterior here...but we are also talking of using the same products used inside the bed. So therefore, everything still applies. I'm not stupid. And I have heard of a brush, thank you.

i have some stuff i'm using now thats a spray on bed liner. shit works great but u have to spray primer down first. i think its made by rustolem. good shit used it on my 96 flawless. and using it on the 2000 thats become a 2 month project. doing the sub frame and lower front end plus a bunch of new parts and brake lines
