Default Best bedliner for a 2010 reg cab xlt?

I see a lot of threads about removing roll-on, spray on bedliners which makes me wonder. All I haul around is a large big wheeled lawnmower, a fairly large snowblower, lumber and occasionally compost from the dump.

Any places in NH would be good as there is no sales tax and I own a house there, but I also live in MA so a MA dealer would be ok.

I was thinking of a drop-in type but am open to any suggestions.

Thanks

Huh, I usually see a large number of threads where people remove the cheap plastic drop-in type and upgrade to the roll on or spray on setups.

I love my professionally sprayed liner & will never have anything different! lol

Spray on is the way to go. I was quoted under $400 from a company (that's local to me, idk about anywhere else) called universal spray in bedliners. I know from previous experience that they take a hell of a beating, and an amazing warranty to back it. I actually had an oily rag catch fire in the bed and cause damage to it. It was 100% my negligence and they fixed it no questions asked

My truck still has the OEM drop in bed liner. I've taken it out to look for rust before and don't see any.

I'd love to do a spray or roll in bed liner, but my drop in has served me well.

Of course, I only haul stuff a handfull of times a year. It's not an everyday work truck. It's a daily driver to my desk job and only hauls stuff on occasion.

Thank you... so what roll-on or spay-on would you recommend if there is a dealer/installer in NH or MA?

Many guys on here use a DIY type deal (aka Herculiner).

However, if your talking a professionally installed product - A few of the bigger name brands are:

Line-X - http://www.linex.com/
Rhino Linings - http://www.rhinolinings.com/

They should all have a 'dealer locator' deal on their websites.

x2

I had mine Rhino lined. There is a local no-name shop that quoted me about $100 less, but after seeing the job they did on their own "company" pickup, I opted for Rhino. The "other guys" had the liner coming off of the tailgate, and several deep scars inside the bed- all the way to bare metal. I figured if that's their idea of showing off their work, I'll pass.

Make sure if you get it professionally done, it has a lifetime warranty, and is backed by a major player, in case that local shop closes it's doors.

A DIY bedliner kit is labor intensive ( in the prep work), but can save you some money. Downside is the lack of warranty.
A drop-in will trap moisture & debris underneath it, and chew thru the paint, giving you a bed full of rust.
(On a different pickup I removed a drop-in liner, and did my own herculiner roll-on)

When funds permit, I'm going with the spray/roll on. When wet a plastic liner becomes super slippery. I'm getting old and I don't bounce nearly as well as I used to.

All I would need would be to have to shift with a cast on. Or worse.

x2.

Why go whole hog ($$) when it's not necessary? My plastic liner has no rust underneath, even after 16 years of regular use. The liner did rub away some paint in a few little spots, but not enough to rust. (see http://i.imgur.com/zkEzyh.jpg )

My '98 and my '07 both have the stock drop in. No rust under either. The thing I always liked about the drop in liners vs the sprayed on was that they protected the bed from hard drops. I did a lot of hauling of waste cement chunks.

In the end it is personal choice of course.

Just say NO to plastic drop in bedliners..and go with a DIY rollon kit like Herculiner.

Prep is everything....i learned it the hard way.
Please read thru my project thread:
http://www.fordrangerforum.com/exter...-bedliner.html

If prepped correctly it should last many many years, but it will fade, the best thing is u can clean it up and apply another fresh coat, and its also paintable, so u can just paint it to bring back that gloss shine.

Bedlined flares, rocker panels, valence and rear bumper plastics, side tubes, bed and bed rails.

Thank you all--a lot of great information.

I'm leaning towards a self-applied material. I'd opt to spray it on and I've always been a real stickler for surface prep. I like the idea that in five years I can do it again when necessary.

LineX is interesting but I find it irritating and frustrating to go to dealers sites and see nothing about price.

Prior to this thread I had never heard of spray-roll on product.

The tutorial was especially helpful!

Over the years I've had drop ins, bed mats, and on my '12 150, my first sprayin liner, Linex, with lifetime warranty. It came with a drop in, but really, I never liked the ones I had before, so it was out about a week after I got it. One truck, the drop in did rub and the paint was gone in spots. On my last SuperDude, I used a bed mat, and one in my Ranger since day 2. They don't provide the protection to the sides like a liner, but I'm pretty easy/careful on my stuff anyway.
I've made up my mind though, that any other trucks I might buy, will have Linex right from the start. I don't know what it may cost for a Ranger, but for my 150, 6 1/2' bed, it was right around $500, slightly less maybe, and IMO, worth it.

Line-X gets $450 to do Ranger beds. I stopped by recently and got that price.
