Default Skid plate

So I want to get a skid plate for my ranger. Should I buy one, have one custom made at a fab shop, or make one myself? Which one is cheaper? I am excellent at welding so that will not be a problem. It's a 2003 Edge.

You decide its worth. Looks like lots of fitting involved.
You'll need a small press brake and shear or plasma cutter before striking a spark

I remember a while ago there was a member who made his own skidplate, and ended up making/selling some to other members. You could search for it. A custom skid plate is still going to cost upwards of $300, if you decide to go to a shop for a custom one, make sure you go to someone that KNOWS what they're doing/has experience.

I've seen a couple of these skids in person........VERY NICE PRODUCT. Not a crazy price either. If only they made one for trucks with Superlifts....I'd be ALL over it.

Alex....what is cheaper? Naturally doing it yourself would be. Might be able to get it done using scrap or heading to the steel yard in their remnants bin for a discounted rate. Might make for a fun little project designing it and making it fit 'cause it sounds like you're a avid welder.

What about FX4 skid plates? Seems that'd bolt right up.

My friends home made skid plate on the bumper he made. 1/4 in steel and removable. He hid the bolts on the inside to give it a clean look. All before paint

They would bolt right up however they are not very structural sound.
It would not take much to bang the crap out of one off roading.
