Default Fuel gauge

I recently bought a 2011 4.ol v6 standard tranny ranger and i am having issues with the fuel gauge..... I drove on the highway (starting with a full tank) for about two hours on a trip this weekend.... I arrived at my destination with a half a tank left.... The next day i drove home.. Without putting gas in and when i got home i had only used another quarter tank. Leaving a quarter tank left. Today i was on my way to work when suddenly the truck had shut off. It did not make any violent shake as if i had stalled it but simply the engine stopped running when i was stopped at a red light. Upon trying to start the engine again nothing had happened, it did not even attempt to turn the engine over.. I read on here from another thread that it could be a possible wiring issue or bad connection with the sender / fuel pump? Anyone have any further info as to what would cause something like this to happen? Also after about a minute or two i tried to start it again and alas it turned over and off i was to work.... Maybe this is a stupid question and i flooded it but im not sure if that would explain why the starter would not work.. Alot of info at once i realize any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

Sounds like you starved your engine of fuel for a split second...that's why you never let it go below a 1/4

yes, no matter what occurs, never fix, work on or do anything if your warranty is still valid.

thanks! its still got the warranty but im not able to take it back to the dealership for a couple days I just wanted to get educated slightly on the matter and I've noticed I'm not the only one with fuel gauge isssues on here... i realized i left my phone charger plugged in over night the day before (my phone was not charging just the cable was connected to the dash) not sure if that would mess with any voltage regulator that would in turn screw with any gauges...
