sway bar
I heard some people take these off and they like the ride better with it off.
What are the pros and cons of removing the sway bar vs. leaving it on?

Re: sway bar
i took mine off for a while.
pros: softer street ride, didn't really notice pot holes or curbs like before, jumping a curb with a front tire caused less body roll. the ride was almost 'porpoise' like lol!
taking it off just allows the IFS to actually act independently from left to right.
cons: felt weird driving fast on the highway. felt weird on hard cornering. a lot more body roll in those situations. i wouldn't want to travel on the highway with a strong headwind/crosswind. or towing for that matter. (not that you can't do it safely)
when i put it back on after several months, i decided that i liked it with it on better for the street. if i wheeled a lot, i might leave it off.
actually, now that i think about it, when i haul loads i really need the sway bar. else, all the top heavy shit i carry would toss around in the bed worse on corners

Re: sway bar
i was told that with it off your truck just flexes really good (good for wheeling) but i also heard that it helps hold your front and rear end straight (keeps them from giving and folding out from under the truck)... but having it on you have a bit of a rougher ride with little flex but your front and rear end will be reinforced to hold better. not sure if they would really give but alot of people told me that they would.

I had mine disconnected for about 7 months but that was more so because my end links had snapped in two. Now that I have it reconnected I've noticed less body roll and less wondering over the highway, especially parts with that grooved concrete.

Re: sway bar
Is there a decent quick release for these? My buddy has a YJ and I could use one or when I'm in the woods hunting or what ever.

x2 - different road surfaces would make it act funky for me

Yeah, The guy with the YJ has his "pinned" at the connection of the end links. All he has to do it pull a pin and swind the sway bar up out of the way and pin it up. It stays out of the way so he can wheel then re-attach it when he is done and hits the main roads again. I was just curious if there was some way out there to do it to the rangers.

ah gatchya! yeah, it's possible if you can replicate it. anything is possible with a machine shop!
i would 'over-engineer' it so that that pin wouldn't break on me...
