When did this turn into r-f? Quit the bickering and answer the mans question.
And op... I don't recommend removing the cats, but it's your truck. I won't say what is or is not on my truck and previous trucks.

I've never been on RF, but global warming debates always seem to get ugly, regardless of what forum it's on.
I have stayed away from the debate about GW here, and will continue to stay out of it unless there was a specific, off topic thread about it.
My point was that the effects of emissions on the environment are up for debate (which has already been proven here). The effects of 10 cars w/o cats passing by the guy standing at the bus stop are not debatable.

this site is not about environmentalism or global warming so i won't continue the argument. but sawdoff, if you'd like, i can send you all the data sets that have been collected since 1956 and other references seeing as my major is focused on environmental change... and its not about saving the environment, that'll bounce back, as you said. its about keeping life as we know it relatively stable, i have lived through 15+ hurricanes including andrew (i was 40 miles from its eye).

The funny thing is that the n00b who posted the original question about removing the cat thinks he will actually get a benefit in performance or mileage if he removes them.

That's why I asked the question; I didn't know if it would help or not. Anything wrong with not knowing what it would do? Or do you have an unsuppressable urge to be a prick and have to post things like that?

Yes, that's right, there are other people on the planet besides you.
By the way, to say "I could care less" means that to some extent, you do in fact care. So since you said you actually do care about the environment and pollution, leave your cats alone. | stfu

Sorry for the unfriendly words. I realize now that I sounded like an a$$ and an idiot.
On the question of removing the cat and installing a glasspack. I think that its not going to sound like you want. Its probably not going to sound like a truck, but more like one of those buzz-saw fufflews they run on the sport-compacts. But hey, if thats the sound you are going for, then go.
Now on that "other" subject. Just because I do not personally believe something doesn't mean it isn't true. I am not going to deny that the earth is warmer. I just have a hard time believeing it is due to anything we have done, only because I have not yet found anything that has convinced me of it. (And, our weather forecast is lows of -15 and highs of 0!! Its cold here!!) If someone has links to any studes or publications that they think are concrete, I would love for you to PM the links to me. I am skeptical, but not going to 100% dispute anything. I don't believe in ghosts or aliens either, but I cannot prove 100% that they don't exist...

You guys were right about the cat for sure, I've heard the lack of back pressure is hard on valves too, the cat stays but I put the glasspack on tonight. Oh and last I checked there was absolutely nothing wrong with asking questions on a forum... Nobody is obligated to answer any questions, but forums are about sharing info about common interests.

How's it sound? I'm just curious if it sounds like an import. I have a dynomax bullet on my 4.0 and it sounded a bit ricey to me. My friends heard and said it does'nt sound ricey at all. It had a nice idle though but when you cruise between 1.5-2000 rpms it sounds a bit ricey. Floor it and sounds completely different once you reach higher rpms. It mellowed out some after a couple weeks and the "riceyness" went away. If you want loud it's definately the way to do it.
