I see your in PA Im guessing the muffler and pipes are pretty rusty. Im in WNY and when I pull one means some time with an air hammer and or cutting the pipe then an expansion tool to undo the damage. BTW a pipe cutoff tool is worth its weight in Gold doing exhaust work. Just got one 2 years ago now I wonder what I would do without one.

okay is the pipe dimpled from the clamp if it is, it will be allot easer to use a torch to heat it up and then bang on the muffler and it shuld start comming off. but you will need to take the ehole system off which is easy, take armorall or silicone and spray in the rubber hangers and rock the system(after its unbolted from the cats) and squirt more in there and it will come off allot easer, same to put back on

Just cut the pipe right before the muffler, and side pipe it straight from the cat.

IMO why would you want to just replace the muffler. If your doing exhaust work, then just replace the whole pipe from the cat back. It will sound better and it should open up some horsepower for you.
