they are both good. your not going to gain any power from either of them really and as far as sound goes, i think the flowmaster sounds better, but alot of people think the gibson sounds good. its all based on opinions. go on youtube and search for vids of each setup and decide for yourself. if you want my opinion, any straight through muffler like the gibson or magnaflow on a 4 banger or V6 will make it sound like rice. a 4 banger or V6 needs a chambered muffler like the flowmaster to lose some of that rice sound but neither will ever sound like a V8 in the higher RPM's. its all personal preference. what motor do you have?

My friend has gibson duals on his 4.0. It's a Jeep though but it sounds throaty. I don't think that your truck will sound ricey with high flow mufflers. Just make sure you make it go all the way to the back. I've heard some Rangers with straight through mufflers and they sound pretty good. I've got a Dynomax Bullet on mine and sounds nice and deep.

My friend has the Gibson on a Jeep V6 and it sounds like poop to me. Another one of my friends got a flowmaster on a V8 GMC and it sounded great. coulda been the difference between the V6 and V8 but i would say go with the flowmaster

Well...I pretty sure I had a gibson(was on the truck when I bought it) until the other day when one of me tailpipes fell off..Whoever welded it on must have been blind and drunk.
I ordered a flowmaster 40 series and am going to try and retrofit it tomorrow.
The gibson sounded good...albiet a little ricey at high RPMs...Idling it sounded nice though.

Off topic a bit...anyone have any suggestions for painting or coating welds on aluminized pipe? I am thing a cold galvanize...but could use grill paint or high temp header paint.

You won't do worse than 13 mpg. I have a 4.0 SOHC, 4.10 gears , 33" tires, Gibson Extreme dual exhaust and average 17.2 mpg (via my scangauge). Is your tune-up current?

So would the super 44 make me lose mpgs? because i am about to buy one and just replace the stock exhaust. ive been told i could lose my low torque and mpgs too..

Depending on where you live and how they remove ice/ snow from the roads the Gibson will last longer.

Here in Denver, they use mag-chloride to clear the roads and it ate my Flowmaster within 2 years. I replaced it with a Gibson and it's shown no signs of being eaten.

Just something else to think about if you live in a snow prone climate.
