Exhaust???
Hello,
My name is Ryan, I have a 2006 ford ranger 3.0L V6. I want to get an exhaust system for my truck that makes it sound like a V8. Im looking for a very loud, deep, roar. I have read other forums and most say that the Flow master 40 series is a good choice. I just wanted to hear from you guys as you seem much more knowledgable about ford rangers.
Thanks ryan

You can get the 4.0 close, but the 3.0 won't. Not enough displacement, can't get a deep tone. Best bet is to get a dual outlet flowmaster super 44 and have two turn downs straight from the muffler to give it a louder deeper sound.

It would be better but if your willing to pay that much just do the whole thing. I would just find your stock inlet and get a muffler that fits that. The dual outlets won't matter because your just gonna have them weld whatever turn downs fit or even find a set of clamp ons.

You might try a muffler with a tip. I have a thrush welded muffler. My 3.slow is no v8, but it has a growl to it and has a deep tone as well.

In the case of the delta series they are deeper because they are chambered to accelerate the exhaust through the delta chambers as they leave the muffler. But if it was just to go deeper Id get a 40 series delta flow. For what he wants to do, dumping (turn-down) exhaust will give him that deep tone and amplify it. At idle it will sound pretty close to a v8 and with the dual outlets it'll have a similar rumble at low rpm's
Nothing against the 50 series. I run an 18" magnaflow on the Tacoma and its comparable to a 50 series delta and its perfect for the look of the truck

I would personally leave the exit where it's at. If you dump it under the bed you will most likely find yourself more annoyed with the constant droning and won't be able to hold a conversation in your cab. Keep it side exit. If you really want to hear the deep sound, have a y pipe installed and mirror the stock passenger exit on the driver side. To make the deep tone hold and project a better after you put a new muffler on, put on some long tips with a wider diameter. I'm prettier sure stock outlet is 2.25, so maybe go 2.25 inlet to a 3.5 or 3.75 outlet about 7-10inches long.
If your truly serious about getting that v8 sound, swap in a 5.0 and put a 40series on it.

^ how about no. Tips won't really do shit unless you get dual 18" tips with a 4" diameter which will look ridiculous. Too much work to get the same effect. And your not going to get much cab drone from a 3.0.
Project yes... That setup would sound good but if he's asking for a V8 sound I don't think he cares how loud a dumped exhaust will be if it'll give him that loud rumble.

I got true dual glass packs, exiting the rear with 3 in tips. Idoling it sounds kinda deep, when you step on it it pops coming back down, I have a 3.0 also.

Re: Exhaust???
what would the difference in sound be if i had the flow 44 super with the exits coming out behind the passenger and driver instead of just dropping it.

Turn downs will echo off the ground under the truck. But will be a bit louder in the cab than if you had it exiting out the back.

Re: Exhaust???
