Default 94 headers what about the heat riser tube?

I'm looking at headers for my 94 4.0L ranger and I was wondering how does the heat riser tube connect to the air intake if there is no connection on the headers? And is there a thermostat in the stock manifolds that controls the heat to warm up the intake system?
