Default exhaust question

i know super 44's will upgrade my torque and hp by a few but how will it affect my mpg? will it in prove it? the set up im looking in to getting is the super 44 2 1/2 cat back system dumped before the rear axle.

thanks
Brandon

flowmasters normally don't add anything but sound. You won't lose any power, and you won't gain any either......given you choose the right sized piping and don't go too big. Mileage, it depends. Some see losses in mpg with just an exhaust. Yet others see gains when used in conjunction with intake, tuner, etc. I got my best mpg numbers with 32's, super40 full exhaust, and intake..no tune.

i have that setup, currently i cannot exactly claim what gains you'll see because i put in u/d pulleys at the same time. but overall i saw an increase of 3-4 mpg highway and pretty much same, maybe 1 mpg loss if im in a foul mood city. olfordtruck also has the super 44, he might be able to enlighten you on what the muffler adds on its own.

wat would it take to get little better gas mileage? im not getting bad at all right now $20 = about 100 miles in town. so exhaust wont help the mileage at all and wont help with power or torque?

not unless you go all out with the entire system like short or long tube headers i think jba makes headers for our trucks short tubes are good for high end tq. and long tubes help with low end tq.

Headers don't really do anything to these trucks unless there's air being shoved into 'em...aka turbo or supercharger. Changes tone but that's just about it really on a NA engine.

Like I said earlier, exhaust is great when used in conjunction with other parts. You won't really lose anything by doing just exhaust. Adding to my earlier comment on headers, on an NA ranger, you actually LOSE low end torque/power with headers installed. And gains are very very minimal way up top. Way above where it's even close to being usable. Headers are pointless unless boosted. At least on this particular application.

Thanks...avatar only took me a good hour on paint. lol.

if your just looking for some more getty up on starts regear your rear axle with sum 4.10s that will give you a nice kick on starts but will limit your top speed for example when im on the interstate and im doing 70mph i can really feel those 4.10s keeping me back but hey i dont need to go any faster speed limit is between 65 and 70 so im good

if thats the case it soundes like you have a problem then cause i can easily do 100 i get up to 95 and felt a bit of a wind and i decied it was time to slow down stock tires are to narrow and it sits to high and its to light to be going that fast so if i was you id be going through my truck looking for things like new plugs, wires, airfilter, fuel filter, check tps, clean maf. next if your truck wont do that speed it sounds also like you may need to regear anyway for those tires you got depending on the size which it looks like you have a 33 if im not mistaken i would suggest a 4.56 that should help a bit

that is correct. i have the new fuel filter and the special tool ( only one sides a pop) i have tried 2 different times do get it off but i cant get the one side off at all! i priced re gearing before i got it lifted and they want $1100 for front and rear installed. i should just get a 5.0 i no where one is sitting in a friends stang there is something wrong with the trany tho. i doubt i could use my 3.0 trany on a 5.0 motor

idk you might be able to but if i was you and your going to do a 5.0 swap i go find a f150 4x4 and take its tranny and xcase out. and i know what you mean those are the pita filters easy location just a pain to get off the lines. and yea gears are always expensive its just one of those things. if you were around here i could get you a good price on gears you just need to buy them
