Glasspack on a 2.3
I currently have a stock muffler on my 94 and I'm thinking about replacing it with an 18" glasspack. Does anyone know about how loud it will sound when I'm in the truck going like 60 mph? I just don't want it sounding like a Civic!

I can't say for sure but it will probably sound similar, its a 4 cyl.. but putting that long of a glasspack might sound good, most people get shorter ones..

Re: Glasspack on a 2.3
It will sound like either a civic, or a lawnmower.
Please do not put a glasspack on it.

Re: Glasspack on a 2.3
I forgot to mention that I have a 'y' pipe after my muffler that branches off into two 45 degree pipes. So it looks like I have dual exhaust. Since my current muffler is almost rusted through, I figured that maybe I should just replace it with a glasspack?

Here is a Ranger with an exhaust system similar to mine.

My point exactly. Lawnmower at idle, civic when revving.
Here's my 2.3L. It's got a Flowmaster 40 and aftermarket catalytic converter.

How much did your setup cost? And did you do it yourself?

I got my stock exhaust dumped, because the tail pipe was held on with bailing wire. I'm thinking of getting a dynomax super turbo muffler but am not sure yet.

Re: Glasspack on a 2.3
My dad put my old glasspack (I have a stack now) on his '90 festiva. It is pretty deep and sounds good so it should sound fine on a 2.3

Do you know how long the glasspack is? Also how noticable is the glasspack when you are driving at higher speeds?

I'd say about $250-$300 total. I had a shop weld my cat and muffler on, but made my tip myself.

Thanks for your help, I'm going to call a few places tomorrow and see what they'll charge.
