4.0 Exhaust Leak
I just bought a ranger a few weeks ago and it has an exhaust leak. at first i though it was coming from the engine compartment but it sounds like it is coming from the passenger side under the floor. I crawled under To see if i could pinpoint it but i cant. Any ideas on what could be leaking? Its hurting power and mpg's a little and if you watch the rpm's they fluctuate slightly almost like a vacuum leak (Bad intake Gasket???), which is kind of annoying.
Any ideas are greatly appreaciated! Thanks!

Start it up in the morning and run your hand threw the exhaust pipe while it's still cold to feel where the gas is coming from.. Your fingers will find were the gas is coming from

Re: 4.0 Exhaust Leak
I had the same problem, it is coming from most likely the bolts on the manifold into the exhaust. It can be seen from under the hood if you look on the passenger side and follow the manifold down. That's what it was on my rig i just got a new bolt and it worked fine. If it is not that than it could be the manifold gasket. I have been told they suck on Rangers.

Thanks for the input guys. I found the leak starting from the manifold working my way down. there is a decent sized leak coming out of where the left and right pipes meet under the engine/trans. These bolts are going to fun to get out. Haha
