Default 3 inch pipe

alright guys, is dual 3" pipe over-kill for a 3.0? Im thinking im wanting to do something different and completely replace the whole exhaust system. im talking manifold back with magnaflow hi-flow cats and possibly a flowmaster super 44 or just dual glasspacks with the tips coming out under the corners of the bumber. what do ya'll think? i have a way to get pipe and a way to bend it so i could do it myself without a problem, just worried about how much of a pain in the ass its going to be. Thoughts?

yes 3" duals is overkill. Single 3" to dual 2.5 is ok.

haha im just doin a little research and acutally thinking the 2.25" duals into a DI/SO cat that comes out 3" pipe, take that to a SI/DO super 44 and have it come out as 2.5" pipe all the way to the end.

how not? have the cat as close to the manifold as possible then just run my pipe back to almost in front of axel where the muffler will be and take the duals around my spare.

I could barely run duals on my truck without the spare. And my one pipe still rubbed the shock. Whats the purpose of single (y-pipe) into duals, into a hi-flow cat (wothless IMO) then out single to a 44 then back out duals...

Why not, single into a 44 dual out

im not saying y pipe into the cat, im saying just run em straight from the heads to the cat and then there is not y piping. then it IS just a single to the 44 to duals. I'm pretty sure we are arguing the same point here...
