Default uh-oh.. will this hurt my ranger?

Long story short.. I hit a bump and the exhaust connected to the catalytic converter fell off so its just the cat. converter.. its loud as heck.. will it hurt it? I dont know much about exhaust systems but i remember hearing that its bad for the muffler to come off, something bout back pressure.. I dunno, but I just wanna know if it will hurt it to be like it is? Lol i kinda like the sound anyway

It won't hurt, but will just be annoyingly loud till you get it fixed.

Yeah, if you were having back pressure issues, it would run like complete shit. So if you engine is running normal, you are fine. Just really loud

depending on what broke, a muffler shop could possibly weld it back for like $10. or you could do an upgrade while you're at it.

i still have the cat on it.. the muffler pipe from the cat broke off.. my friend says the cat will create enough back pressure but i dont know for sure if hes right or not..

well i researched it, and it isnt bad, but on some vehicles it can cause the fuel mixture to run lean and burn the exhaust valves.. my question is, would it harm my ranger? i got a 1991 V6 3.0l..

People say that fords crave back pressure so that may be your only drawback and cause you to run crappy. Just throw a flowmaster or magnaflow on it and split it into 2 pipes for a side exit in front of the rear axle.
