I agree with stacks.

But seriously I have been wanting to do this to my truck since I got her, but damn Michigan is the only state that it is illegal to do it in, is there anyone from Mi that has done this and have you had issues with the cops?

That's the first I've heard that. I've seen many exhausts dumped out the sides in front of the rear wheels. I even ran a Powerwagon for 7 years like that. Never a problem. The '96 F150 even came from the factory like that.
Maybe something changed, but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

**Show off your side exhaust**
Was just gonna say ford and some dodges if I remember right came stock Front of rear wheels . The only time it's illegal to dump is if it's before the end of the cab of the truck
Can't be under passengers is all or cabin space if suv

Re: **Show off your side exhaust**
Ok, I know it is widely seen around here, but I also know a few people who have gotten tickets for having the exhaust in front of the wheel (I do know of vehicles that came stock like that) so I am just not sure about those laws.

I know in Commiefornia the exhaust needs to be a certain length and turn downs are illegal. Really haven't seen any enforcement on exhaust requirements unless the vehicle has a ton of other violations or when it is getting a CHP inspection.

Re: **Show off your side exhaust**
So my exhaust officially is falling apart (literately), I called the custom exhaust shop and told him what I wanted and said it would be no problem but I asked him I'd like a quiet as possible and he joked and said that if I wanted it quiet I should run it out the back. If I wanted a nice looking side exhaust no problem but quiet not so much...
How much louder is the exhaust going to be coming out the side of my single cab before the rear tire as most pictures here.
I was thinking of picking up a walker s/s quietflow muffler. Have no interest in a flowmaster for my 2.3L. Maybe a s/s magnaflow? I am looking for quiet because this is my d/d.
Thanks,
-Nigel

Re: **Show off your side exhaust**
My 2000 Ranger is my DD & I installed a JBA cat back system & I like it. It is louder then stock but not annoying.

Re: **Show off your side exhaust**
Ended up just putting a Walker system on and painting the entire thing in black high temp paint since it was ugly..lol
Now at least it disappears. I might at a exhaust tip after I cut the rear pipe somewhat to give it a little nicer look from the silly straight pipe design.
But overall it's really quiet. Still wish I would have gone side exhaust by at $400 just doesn't seem that worth it on a 01' 170k mile 2.3L ranger...lol
