I know this is an old thread. My exhaust is starting to fall apart on my 2.3L...
This is exactly what I want to do... I also have a stepside so this is perfect... Can this be done to a 2.3L? I know you said you have a 5.0... so I am sure the piping is different.
My exhaust has been changed or at least the tip has, because I have a dual tip that comes out right behind the rear passenger tire... Your's looks a lot nicer being shorter exhaust and coming right out the side.
Thanks,
-Nigel

Re: **Show off your side exhaust**
It can be done with any truck I suppose. But may I weigh in on this? Yours is a 2.3?

Re: **Show off your side exhaust**
LOL, man that would look so horrible.. plus I have a tounue cover and that would be a pain and I wouldn't want to cut into the bed.
The side exhaust right at the bed looks so clean to me.
When people are replacing their exhaust are they doing it all the way from the headers up, or are they doing it from the cat back? I think when the time comes I am going to have to cut bolts. I just wasn't sure how involved it would be to do so...
Obviously I don't want it to cost 500 bucks for them to custom route an exhaust on a 01 ranger..lol
Thanks,
-Nigel

Catback, unless you need to replace the cat.

Re: **Show off your side exhaust**
I say forget the side pipes and just dump them. I think I am going to find a spare '04 Mustang Cobra 4.6 DOHC and stuff it into my other 2001 Ranger Edge and dump the pipes

Good luck finding an 03-04 cobra motor. Those things get scooped up in a heartbeat. And if you do find one, be prepared to pay a pretty penny for it. They average around $6000-$8000.

Re: **Show off your side exhaust**
Theres much better platforms to dump a SC 4.6 4v into. Really a waste to drop it in a torsion bar ranger.

Do you have anymore pictures?
I'd be happy with that as well. My exhaust is rusting away and I'm wondering if there are any systems out there aftermarket (catback) that do exactly as your picture is... most I've seen dump it out the back but I'd prefer by the step or right in front of the rear tire.
Thanks,
-Nigel
