Stock size on mine was 2.5 through the cat, then necked down to 1.75 through the muffler and out the back. I upgraded to 2.5 all the way out.

You trying to slow your exhaust down and lower your torque?

its because i got a 3" opening into my muffler. so wahts i was gonna do is adapt to 3" right before the muffler. then just dump it out the back.

when you do this will you still get the right amount of back pressure? and do you get more torque?

one more thing im dumping my exhaust after the muffler should i adapt to 2.5 then dump it? or just dump it with 3" tubing?

You don't want any backpressure, but you want to keep the exhaust moving fast. You get one with the other.

And you don't want to "dump it". You need about 18" minimum behind the muffler to smooth out the air flow before it exits the pipe, otherwise you just have turbulence and the air slows, killing power. I wouldn't go bigger than 2.5", but if you go bigger, I see no reason to neck it back down. Just be aware that while you might gain a tiny little bit on the top, that size pipe is gonna cost you big time down low.

Yep, mine didn't have one, but they started dropping things in the later years, don't know when that was phased out, since I didn't have it. I would guess '04, since thats when alot of other things were changed. I was just curious, since I didn't have one, and the OP has an '08, which I know doesn't have one.
