I have an 02 xlt, im thinking your talking about a resonator in front of the muffler right? correct me if im wrong plz. But if i were to remove that and continue with stock pipe and use a flowmaster 40 do you think that would be a good setup im not sure if i want to keep the stock pipe yet but im just assuming for nw that i will. trying to plan out the future for this truck because i just got it ,because it was my fathers old truck.

May I suggest that it might be less work to replace the piece of pipe from the cat to the muffler all at the same time? Less welds, smoother flow. A shop might actually charge you less that to replace the resonator with pipe, and the muffler separately?

Sorry i didnt mean keep the old stock pipe i meant to put same stock size pipe. How much do you think a shop would charge to do what you said but with 2.5 piping, because i might try it myself with my neighbor he has a good amount of experience on cars and trucks and he works in a machine shop. or would i not be saving much by making it myself

It cost me $80 at a small shop to run 2.5" pipe from the cat to the muffler, then out in the stock location. I supplied the muffler though. So if you figure a $60 muffler, it should cost less than $150, but it really depends on what shops in your area charge.
