its probably just the K&N stock filter replacement inside the stock system and the sticker comes with it... when you get K&N stock filter replacement those stickers are in the boxes so that its proof that it complies to all laws.

hey guys i have priced a few shops. CES (custom exhaust systems) single with 2 1/2 in all the way out + super 44 $195.95. single in dual 2 1/2 out $295.95 (both with new piping from the end of the headers back)

scotts exhaust $270.00 single he said duals are illegal because my truck doesnt have dual catalytic converters.

so im wandering if i should do the ces duels or just do a cat swap.

how does it sound with the stock pipes?

Hey guys,
I've been following this thread. I had a 1999 step side 2wd 3.0L 5 spd.
I installed a Gibson swept side cat-back system. It sounded good and no loss of back pressure. These little 3.0's only put out 150 hp at the flywheel....they are not noted for power, but they are great for reliability. I sold mine with over 150,000 and she is still going strong. Now like a few others have stated, if you want more power, start working with the engine (roller rockers are a good start). Anyway the Gibson was a good choice for me and I will be installing one on my 07 4.0L sport soon. Only this time I am going with the sport duals. Just my 2 cents.

Scott

I just found this thread myself.... the 3.0L has never been known for fuel economy nor for power... My 2.3L duratec is less than 10 hp of the 3.0L V6 (150 hp on the 3.0L and 143 on the 2.3L). I installed a flowmaster 40 series on my 2.3L and it has a good sound - although (IIRC) those engines only have a 2.5" diameter pipe from the muffler back. I didn't change the exhaust pipe only the muffler... I noticed about 2-3 mpg drop but after you get a little more "sound" you tend to want to "get on it" more than when a vehicle is quieter... I'm still averaging 24-27 instead of my 27-30 hwy... Still pleased - I love my flow-40 on this truck.

Any car I've ever changed exhaust on I've always noticed about 2-3 mpg drop over stock exhaust - but never a large drop in MPG's... Here's two videos of my ranger with flowmaster exhaust on it...

Just found this thread. I have the 4.0 motor. I have been considering the FM Super 44 as my replacement. I am more into the sound....... I like the aggeessive sound when I take off and the semi-quiet sound when cruising. Would this fit the bill?

Many thanks!

i'm with you, if i were doing duals, i'd just split at the rear axle like most people do... true duals are quite expensive and not that much hp gain, nor perforamnce out of the 3.0L engine
