considering i am a poor college student, this is my first vehicle, i do not expect much out of a 3.0, i notice every little detain in power and rev vibrations in the pedal, and i do not have the luxury to spend a ton of money on parts or dyno time or other vehicle then okay... i have more attention to detail and bolt ons do create changes... at least in my truck's case.

when you drive those very hig hp vehicles you may lose feel of the smaller ones and lose the appreciation of a small 5 hp gain. nothing wrong with that but im here to say that there were obvious gains from those two things on my small 155 hp 3.0 V6. the most hp ive driven is a 2009 shelby gt500 for about 5 minutes... ive driven my dad's 07 stang gt before and after the JLT intake+SCTX3 install for a few days and could feel a huge difference in that one... i dont have 3 days a week experience with a 601 hp evo or rx-7 turbos... just a 1994 Nissan Sentra 1.6 twin cam (first car) and my current daily driver 03 Ranger...

I understand, just to give you an idea 5whp is the difference between driving to work in 40 degree weather and driving to work in 80 degree weather. Temperature alone plays that much difference in charge-density.

yeah i know that. thats why humidity is a big deal when dyno tuning as you know. the little thing matter in high hp engines, but mean even more in engines that already dont have much hp numbers already... kinda like how every 10 lbs is 1 hp... thats why the guy in my stang club has no interior in the stang that he races... every hp counts.

then do just a muffler replacement... im a lightning style kinda guy on trucks and muscle cars so i would personally do the muffler and shortened exhaust but thats just me... i only lost 1 hp by doing that on mine... that sound clip is from lightning style exhaust flowmaster super 44.

ding? what is ding?

the 44 will only reduce mpg if you shorten the exhaust dramatically like i did... if you keep the stock piping and just replace the muffler then i dont see why it would affect the mpg to be noticable.

oh, haha... im losing it, long day. lol

its up to you... the only difference is the diamond plating on it or not... that will strengthen it but i see no reason to spend the extra money on that unless youre actually gonna do some harsh offroading... theres more inlet/ outlet size and locations on the normal black case one... if its just for daily driver use then i would say just the black one is best and to save money.

just measure it out... stock tailpipe should be the same size too... the 40 series is good too. the way you compare the 40 series to the super 44 is this...

the 40 series is a muffler that will amplify the engine sound but in turn sacrifices the true rumble sound of it.

the super 44 takes the true rumble of the engine and enhances it instead of amplifying and disorting. in turn it is only as loud as the engine that it runs on.

so both sound clips on this thread are on 3.0 V6 engines, one is loud with a good rumble and the other is a little quieter with more of a true engine rumble/ gurgle sound. both are great mufflers and both offer great sounds... its all on personal preference though... as long as you go flowmaster you will have a great sound and be completly satisfied!

So what ya think?
