Most people just buy the muffler and have it installed. You could do it either way, but you'll probably save some cash by just buying a muffler yourself. As far as single or dual exhaust that's just a choice you'll have to make. There isn't a difference in performance, at least enough to notice on our trucks. I wouldn't straight pipe it, IMO it doesn't sound very good and there isn't really anything to be gained, however it won't mess your truck up. If you want the least expensive option, buy a muffler and just put a turndown or dump on right at the end of the muffler. It gives it a nice deep sound although it is a little loud in the cab at times.
