Another Glasspack Question
My truck is a 2000 ext cab 3.0 v6 and right now I have a Flo-Pro muffler with dual exaust with the resonating tips at 45 degree angle that has a nice low tone when you are accelerating and while I like it I wish it was a little louder. Someone gave me a almost new glasspack muffler that came off of a v8 silverado. He said it sounded almost like stock. The body is 22 inches long and I was wondering if it would sound good on my truck and would be louder than my current muffler? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Glass Packs get louder over time. I have a 27 inch glass pack on mine and it sounds okay and has a low growl at idle. How long was it on the silverado? The reason it sounded stock is probably because he didnt leave it on long enough to blow the insulation out.

Yeah, I've heard they get louder with time. Is yours loud? He didn't say how long it was on the silverado, but it doesn't look like it was on there very long.

I've had mine on for 3 months and i have noticed a difference. After i first put it on i started it and it sounded stock and i was about to cut it off then someone told me they take time to get loud. There are ways to make them loud without waiting like sparaying them with water when they're hot but i havn't tried that because it has been getting gradually louder. It also depends how often you drive it. I edon't drive it often so its going to take a while before mines at its loudest.

Ok, thanks for the info. Has it gotten a lot louder or just a little? I went by a muffler shop and the guy said he wouldn't put a glasspack on my truck but he recommended a flowmaster 35 series. Looked at flowmasters website but didn't see a flowmaster 35 series but did see a 30 series.

It gotten quite a bit louder but not obnoxious yet. If your looking for loud like i was i was considering the cherry bomb extreme or flow master super 10 series which are both single chamber mufflers which are a lot louder. Ive never heard of the 35 series

A glasspack isnt too loud especially on a v6 so its probly a good choice for the sound you want. I was looking for loud and cheap so a glasspack was what i needed but i do know they have a nice rumble just not sure how loud its going to get.

I've had my glass pack on for 2 years now and it hasn't gotten louder at all. The best thing you can do is to pick one that best fits your engine size that you have. My set up has a nice deep rumble to it at idle and it still does at about 55 mph. It does get a little louder on the interstates but no much louder.

I'd go with a 28 inch long Cherry Bomb glass pack but keep the stock pipe size of 2.25 inches. I have some photos of my current exhaust system:

I've also got 3 videos of my exhaust system and I have the same engine you have. They're posted below:
I've had several people pm me about my exhaust and alot people always ask me about which one is best. I always tell them that it's based apon what size engine you have and your own personal tastes. My exhaust still sounds like it did the day I had it installed and I drive my ranger on a daily basis. The glass pack that I have on there is too big for the engine to make it too loud. It will never burn out because of that. I was told this the day I had it installed and it's sounded the same for the last 2 years.

So would the 22 inch one not be a good choice? I also have the dual resonating tips which gives it a deeper sound in my opinion.

I have a 22in flowtech glassback and I love tge way it sounds. My exhaust goes from 2.5 after the cat to 2 3/4 muffler back single side exit. Ill take a video when I finish my headgaskets this weekend

Ok, that's cool. How loud is it? Is is kinda loud or annoyingly loud? What about when its idleing or your accelerating or cruising? Thanks

its a nice and aggressive enough where its recognizable to ppl but not obnoxious. it has a nice rumble downshifting. its quiet at idle, you can only really hear it when on the passenger side. cruising is a nice and mellow but screams under accel. it screams at high rpm. the flowtech is pretty much the same thing as a cherrybomb. the only difference is this

Even though you have a small engine there are ways to make it get louder since rangers dont really have enough power to blow the insulation out. If you get it hot and then mist it with water it will make it louder. In your video your exhaust sounds louder than mine but mines only been on 3 months. If it doesnt start to get louder i may try some of the techniques that can make it louder.
