Ok, I didn't know if there was a certain size that sounded best. Thanks

A longer tip will tone your exhaust down, while a shorter tip will increase it's tone. It really depends on your set up. The resonating tips is what I like to call "echo cans" and tend to sound like crap on a ranger. Just a regular old short slash cut tip of about 6 to 8 inches long will do.

Ok, thanks. I know the resonating tips gave it a deeper sound. I cant decide whether to put the glasspack on or leave my current muffler and replace the tips and hope its loud enough

You should be good then. A muffler change can be either a significant improvement or a catastrophic failure. That just the way exhaust systems are. You can change one in 10 minutes or it can take up to several hours. The glasspack is a good choice if you pick the right one. I've been happy with mine for 2 years this coming friday.

Ok, would you put the glasspack on and leave the tips alone or change the tips and leave the flo-pro muffler? I just want a nice kinda deep sound without being real loud or annoying.

This is just me, but I'd put the regular tips on and keep what you have and reroute the exhaust to exit in front of the rear tire like I did with my old Flowmaster set up. Here are the photos:

Here's where I had the tailpipe exiting:

You can also do the same thing with a glasspack if you wanted to. It's really up to you. The only reason I switched to a glasspack was because I had a rear main seal break and when it did my Flowmaster American Thunder 40 Series was bouncing off the driveshaft and it was driving me crazy. I had to replace it.

Ok, thanks for the info. What would a flowmaster 50 delta flow sound like? I had a super 44 once and it was a little loud in the upper rpms.

The Deltaflow 50 series sounds like crap. It was the only Flowmaster muffler I didn't like that I had. So I went to the Deltaflow 40 series instead. A much, much better rumble at idle, and it was surprisingly quiet at lower rpms. When I had to get up to speed such as getting on interstate, the exhaust came alive. Mom really loved the Deltaflow 40 series, along with the one you seen in the photos. Those 2 were her favorites. The Deltaflow 50 Series sounded more like a stock exhaust. The 50 series is pretty much for high output V8's and Big Blocks only. Flowmaster themselves pretty much have this muffler listed the same way. In fact I think they call it "Big Block II" and have it listed for motorhomes and large SUV's. Trust me when I say you're better off with a Deltaflow 40 series.

ok, my truck has 1 cat instead of 2 like factory, will that make a difference in how the muffler sounds?

Some but not much. Mine had 2 catalytic convertors and one resonator. I had the resonator cut off down in TN. VA's exhaust shops won't cut off a resonator and leave it blank for some reason like they do in TN. But I did notice a better exhaust note and tone after getting rid of it. But to answer your question, yes it will sound better than normal, but not much though. Just enough to notice.

Could I keep my Gibson muffler on and install a glasspack behind that and run both or would that sound dumb or be a overall stupid thing to do?

Hey I've got a 22" cherrybomb glasspack and haven't put it back on yet since it fell off with clamps. Right now I have no exhaust and for $100 I can go get it welded and dumped. Do you guys think it will be a good loud if it was dumped?

haha, my chevy is annoyingly loud, manifolds, and a 9in glass pack ends about the middle of the cab, also its only a v6...pretty quite at idle, i have a summit racing glass pack, tap the gas and it will growl, people turn there heads in the car beside us, also they always like the cloud of blue that follows that truck....that poor 4.3l no compression on the #1 cyl, and burns about a quart of oil every 100 miles, surprisingly it will still haul a load of drywall or plywood just hard to get her going much faster than 50....hehe but god damn it always freakin starts, never over heats or nuthin,i guess thats why it aint in a junkyard yet....i feel like a ******* for braggin about a chevy on a ford site.....,
