yea ive checked out youtube and most stuff sounds bad for my 4 cyl. if i do change the muffler im going dynomax super turbo. had one on my old ranger with 3.0. great tone not real loud, i found out they break in a bit tho after a while

wonder how they sound on a sohc. im wanting to put a muffler back on mine. i love the sound. but the loss of back pressure is annoying, theres not bottom end from it. i want the preformance back in torque

Currently: 98 ext. cab stepside, 3.0, 5 speed, Westin brush guard, roll bar, 2 Hella spotlights and 2 Walmart floods, 2 "fog lights" in the grill, Cobra cb, Flowmaster 40 series, cold air intake, General Grabber AT/2 31/10.50/15's
Soon to come: Lock-right, hurst shifter, manual hubs, snorkel, more lights rock sliders, hi-lift jack,3 inch BL, 4 inch suspension lift, explorer 8.8 L/S, re-gear, winch, front reciever

I mean its loud now. (no muffler at all). but i hate not haveing any bottom end. I would still like something to have a good deep drone, and gain back the low end ive lost.

oh i thought you meant verses out the stock location. lol well its gona be alot more tame then nothing. dumped it probly would be a good "volume" so to say.
until it breaks in it sounds a bit louder than stock, if you run it in the stock exhaust set up
