Default replacing muffler with different exhaust?

Im just curious if taking off my old muffler (leaving all the cats and emissions stuff there) and replacing the muffler with say a magnaflow or glasspack would change the sound... Im not looking for extreemly loud, i jus want to be able to hear the exhaust.

Also would it throw a code at all, I would just be leaving it single out like stock, just a different muffler

If this will change the sound ill prolly do it but if it wont make a difference, whats the point...I looked in the search and couldnt find anything, so any help is appreciated.. its on the 4.0 sohc btw

thanks,
kyle

it won't throw codes. i recommend the MBRP kit mine is currently on order. it doesn't drone the cab
