Ah Mike,
How in the world are ya? To answer your question both are about the same but the Super 44 just barely edges out the Super 40 Series. I thought Flowmaster dropped the Super 40 series for the Super 44 series.

I've had the super 40 before and it's pretty loud. But I've heard both the super 40 and the 44 and the 44 is noticably louder than the super 40 but not by much though. Just enough to notice. If you want it loud or extremely deep, it really depends on where you put the muffler and what set up you plan on using. For Example: if you want a nice deep, rumbly tone you'd run a full set of pipes. If you wanted it super loud you run a shorter set of pipes and dump it behind the cab. and if that was too loud for you, you'd add some longer pipes to tone it down a bit.

my super 40 was a delta flow so im not sure if that had something to do with it or not...but i thought my 40 was on the quiet side

I had the delta force super 40 and it was really close to the 44. The deltaflow series was designed to be quiet until you hit the loud pedal. It really varies. The american thunder is about the loudest street muffler you can get, but the delta force is specifically made for off road use only or racing only. But I did try the Deltaflow version of the Super 40 before I went to the Deltaforce version. The Deltaforce version was alot better. You've got to read their categories a little closely and you'll see which one is best for your style and application.

Kool man. Since you're running duals don't forget about the H-pipe. It will balance it out and give you a nice deep toned exhaust.

Try this one instead.

It is alot more deeper than the super 44 will ever be and it won't sound ricey or like a po'ed hornet. You won't regret it at all. I got the one with a 3 inch inlet and dual 2.5 inch outlets and went one foot behind the cab with nothing else. My truch sounded like Paul Teutal's green and black web bike and it sat off factory installed car alarms. It's not loud, but it's extremely deep . Plus there's a sound clip included in the link. Flowtech's logo is a flaming demon skull which looks sick.

I am very much looking into this now. Do you think it would still sound good if i did just a straight muffler swap? i have a friend who is willing to do install for me for free as long as i buy the parts. i dont usually run high RPMs either so im wondering if ill be able to hear it much at all...
