It appears to either be LED or some voodoo that turns red when it heats up. Either way don't buy it, its rice.

I have an 05 4.0 L V6 ranger and i want to put a new exhaust on it put i don't want it to sound awful just because V6 don't have that deep sound like V8 do.

Anyone have any advice?

dont get a clamp on thats pointless, if you get a tip get a real exhaust system! at least the muffler. Flowmaster FTW!

That first one is pretty nice. Reminds me of my Magnaflow tips on my car. I love those. Similar to this, but they came with my catback.

I know its been a few months since the last post on this thread, but in my case resonating tips didn't give it a ricey sound. It made it deaper and sound better in my opinion.

Gibson, slash cut tip. I run one on my truck, looks great; slash cut is the way to go for a truck.

should be able to find them cheaper than that easy, got mine for like $40 or something

I'd go with what ever your exhaust shop has in terms of Slash Cut tips. The reason I say this is because the clamp on tips really don't hold up that well at all. One pothole and you're screwed if they're not torqued on right. You're better off with a weld on version instead. The resonator is basically a welded up version of a burned out glass pack. These didn't exist back when Cherry Bomb busted out on the scene back in 1968. What people use to do was take an oxyaccetaline rosebud torch and burn them out, then they'd flip them around to get an even more aggressive sound out of them. The resonator basically is the same thing only with alot less hassle.

I have a flowmaster with a resonator tip. does not sound ricey what so ever. i wish it was louder, but not much to work with with a 3.0 v6. the resonator tip actually made it a little bit deeper. it sounds nice for what it is

That's really the goal of any exhaust system. You want something that sounds good but not ricey and you know what your personal tastes are. Exhaust systems are really based on what you like, what size motor you have, what type of cylinder heads your engine has, and most importantly, how much money you want to spend. I love it how people hear my exhaust and swear up and down that I spent a fortune on it when I didn't spend alot of money and the shock on their faces when they hear my V8 sounding exhaust system and it's only a 3.0 V6 Vulcan Roller motor .
