Default good exhaust for a v6 4 liter?

i have a v6 4 litre 1998 ranger xlt 2wd.. and are there any cheapish exhaust systems out there that make my truck louder/sound deeper?

how hard are exhausts to install?

how much does just a dual pipe system cost?

It's cheaper to head to an exhaust shop...prices very ALOT shop to shop. Usually, word of mouth places are excellent quality and excellent prices. I got my 2.5 single in/2.25 dual out bent and hung for $200. I reused my existing muffler. 2.5 Single out system, my old setup, I paid $150 to bend and hang it, again using an existing muffler.

Oh the 4.0L OHV, I suggest a Flowmaster Delta Flow 40 muffler. I've heard it in person and it sounds awesome. On a 4.0L SOHC, I like Flowmaster Super 44.

Dual out kits are about $550 including muffler....kit...install in your driveway type of kit like a magnaflow kit. It's cheaper for me to get my own custom setup done to my own wants and needs(nice tight hidden away from stuff system).

Yeah. Like I said, exhaust shop prices vary wildly. Shop around.

Not with this setup...hit up youtube. FYI: online sound clips suck. Nothing beats personal experience and hearing in real life.

I have a Thrush Welded on my truck, it sounds a lot like the Flowmaster 40. Its pretty quiet until you get on it, then it has a nice deep tone. The welded is made of 12 gauge and fully welded, they will last forever.

Hey FX4Wannabe01, how does the Flowmaster super 44 sound on the 4.0L OHV? I have aheard many people say that they love the super 44 and was just wondering if any or all of them were SOHC or OHV? Thanks

BigDan

Ive got a Magnaflow 3 chamber with a dump in front of the back wheel, and I think it sounds good. quiet at idle with a nice deep tone while driving under 2500. put your foot down and it wakes up and starts talking to ya. Has a nice full sound. With the muffler, two tips, pipe and labor, it was right at $190.

Here are some pics if you are interested.
