Default I want an aggressive sounding exhaust.

I have a chevy 502 with dual super 44's and they sound amazingly good. But im only gettin 6mpg on a good day. So i got this ranger and im wanting to put an aggressive exhaust on it. Give me some feed-back on what size pipes, and muffler as well as other things to achieve this in my 2.5.

Its going to be hard getting that sound out of the 2.5 4 cyl. some would recommend a glasspack, others would recommend a Dyno turbo muffler, but I wouldnt know for sure

It will sound like shit too. Go with a Flowmaster 60 Series 2.25 inch single inlet and outlet and dump it about 1 foot behind the cab. It will sound great I swear it. That muffler is made specifically for 4 and 6 cylinder engines with small displacements. That would be my first choice really.

You forgot about my exhaust my friend. Mine is the totally opposite of what you said. Go to the last page in this thread listed below and you'll see for yourself. Plus I think you picked wrong one and pipe size. You should've kept the stock pipe size of 2.25 inches my friend. That's where people make mistakes, they choose the wrong one. You need to pick the one that's best for the engine that you have instead of what the salesperson says. It's a common mistake really, I made it myself a few times.

Here's an old photo of my Flowmaster exhaust and setup:

You don't really have to do the tail pipe the way I did it at that time, but I'd thought I'd give you a little bit of an idea on what you might like and what you'd want to consider, the choices is really a matter of your own personal taste.

Here's what I have now. The first photo is of the day I had it installed:

Here's what it looks like today and it still sounds like it did the day I had it installed because the motor is too small to burn this Cherry Bomb Glasspack out. I went with the 28 inch long with 2.25 inch inlet and outlet. I had it dumped 1 foot behind the cab. Overall cost for this exhaust was $72 bucks give or take a little bit. That includes the installation if you are wondering.

Those sound really good. I liked the first one better. It has a little deeper tone to it.

Here's what mine sounds like:

My set up dis prooves alot of people's opinions concerning glasspacks in general. It doesn't drone and it has a nice deep rumble to it. I'd go with a Flowmaster 60 series instead of what you and I have because his motor is just too small to make it sound like ours. But we made some good choices though.

Ok and what would yall say about the 60 series flows with 2.25 and flaring it out in front of the rear wheels with echo tips.....or just put a dust blower 1foot behind the bed?

That would work very nicely for Ranger. How you want to set it up is up to you. I'd go 1 foot behind the cab with it myself, but that's just me though.

Glad we can help. It's kind of hard to pick an exhaust system and set up these days because there are so many to choose from. What makes it even harder is the fact that we're dealing with a small motor that doesn't put out alot in terms of power and sound.

Shame on you, L.O.L. Borla was a little bit too expensive for my budget really and it just didn't quite sound right to me. I never really cared for Borla to be honest.
